I. Matthew Miller
At the firm since 1996, Mr. Miller is a member of the Property Management Section. Mr. Miller concentrates his practice on real estate litigation, the representation of property owners and managers of rental property, and commercial and civil litigation. Mr. Miller has successfully handled landlord-tenant cases throughout Michigan and numerous significant district and circuit court litigation statewide arising out of the representation of real estate clients, both as plaintiff and defendant, including defending actions alleging consumer protection violations, mold contamination, and manufactured housing disputes.
Mr. Miller graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A., with distinction, and with high honors in Political Science in 1991 and from the Wayne State University Law School in 1994. While at Michigan, Mr. Miller finished in 4th place in the 1990 Jeopardy! College Championship. During his scholastic career, Mr. Miller interned for Sen. Carl Levin, the Hon. Bernard Freidman of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Hon. Dorothy Comstock Riley, Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.
A member of the State Bars of Michigan, Florida and Colorado, Mr. Miller has successfully handled matters in Florida, Illinois, and Arkansas, as well as before the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Florida Court of Appeals, and the Michigan Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Miller currently serves as Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Property Management Association of Michigan (PMAM), a statewide apartment industry organization, with which he has drafted a number of bills under consideration by the Michigan Legislature for the benefit of the apartment industry. He is also the immediate past Chair of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Michigan Region, and serves as Midwest Vice-Chair of the ADL National Washington Affairs Committee.
